Traveller's Tips For Star Cruises

       
 

Freestyle Cruising: On Star Cruises, the choice is yours. Feel free to enjoy yourself the way you like to. Dress the way you like, dine at the your preferred time and discover how different a cruise can be.
 

Accommodation: A wide range of suites and staterooms are available to suit your budget. 

Documents: Your passport must have a minimum validity of six months and that you must carry all the required visas. No refund is applicable if you are denied boarding due to improper or absence of visas. Also remember to carry along your cruise confirmation slip.
 

Check-In: You must be at the respective departure terminal at least 4 hours prior to cruise departure. Any one member of the family can check in on behalf of the others, provided he/she is carrying all their passports and relevant travel documents. Once your documents consisting of passport, Singapore immigration card and cruise confirmation slip have been checked at the check-in counters, you will be given an Access Card.
 

Access Card: An Access Card will be handed to you upon check-in at the cruise center before boarding the ship. For the entire journey the Access Card will serve as your boarding pass, cabin key and charge card, which you can use to pay for your purchases on board. A limit can be set on your card at the Reception Desk. Make sure to sign on the reverse of your Access Card for security reasons and in case you loose your card make sure to report this at the Reception.
 

Cashless System: No cash will be accepted at any outlets on board the ship. You can increase your initial credit limit of $500.00 on your Access Card at the Reception by any major credit card.
 

Embarkation: You can board the ship once an announcement is made. Your luggage will be screened at the Linkway after which you will be allowed to board on presentation of your Access Card and passport to the Immigration Officers. After entering the vessel hand your Access Card and passport to crew members who will “encode” your cabin details and record you are on board. Your passport will be collected upon boarding and will be returned to you on completion of the cruise.
 

Safety: You will be informed about all procedures during an emergency drill on the first day including use of a life jacket in case of an emergency. All passengers are advised to attend the emergency drill.
 

Medical Facilities: In case of minor accidents or emergencies while at sea, a resident physician and a team of nurses will attend to you. The clinic is opened daily at posed hours.
 

Clothing: Wear what you wish. Dress according to your mood. It is your vacation. Smart casual attire is suitable for most occasions, although some restaurants may require formal attire.
 

Dining: Star Cruises offers up to six meals a day- breakfast, mid-morning tea, lunch, high tea, dinner and mid-night supper, which are served at specified international restaurants and snack areas. You may wish to dine at the a la carte restaurants at a moderate charge.
 

Dining Credit: A special dining credit is extended exclusively to all Balcony Class passengers. This can be used on food and beverages at any of the pay bars and restaurants. Dining credit vary in amount according to cruise duration.
 

Child Care: The Child Care Centre is thoughtfully furnished with every child and parent's dream. Complete with a Nursery, Sleep and Rest Area, Computer World and Play Area, kids will have a great time while under professional supervision. A baby-sitting service is also available at a nominal charge.
 

Shopping: You can purchase competitively priced souvenirs, gifts and duty free items at Star Boutique.
 

Shore Excursions: Visit the Shore Excursion Desk to purchase different tour options at each port of call.
 

Smoking: It is permitted only on open decks and in designated public areas.
 

Telephone: Phone calls using satellite network can be made from the Front Desk or your cabin, at a charge.
 

Tipping: Star Cruises follows a no-tipping policy.
 

Baggage: For comfort and convenience we recommend that you carry a maximum of one suitcase and one item of hand luggage. Check-in baggage will be delivered to your cabin within 2 hours after sailing. If you require assistance to unload baggage from the ship, please leave your baggage outside your cabin door 3 hours prior to arrival. Your bags will be tagged and can be collected at the luggage collection area of the port of disembarkation.
 

Facilities For The Physically Challenged: Most areas are accessible to the physically challenged. We also have staterooms specially designed for the physically challenged with wider doorways and larger bathrooms. Wheelchairs can be provided for emergencies.
 

Settling Your Bills: It is advisable to settle your bills on the night prior to your departure or at least three hours before disembarkation.
 

Currencies: Most foreign currencies, major credit cards and traveller’s cheques are accepted at the time of settling you bills.
 

Disembarkation/Embarkation At Ports: Whenever you leave or enter the ship, your Access Card will be swiped, for purpose of maintaining passenger count. 

At The End Of The Cruise: 
At the end of the cruise, you can collect your passport after settling of bills and presenting your Access Card at the designated area. If you want to collect passports for your family and friends, you have to have their Access Cards.
